Kumbakonam: A constable suffered injuries when an inebriated man attacked him as he was about to be arrested for creating a ruckus at Athipakam area, police said.
A Sub-Inspector of the area and the constable had gone to the spot on receiving information about the man creating some problems and were about to arrest him when he attacked the SI.
The constable intercepted him and suffered injuries in his right hand, they said.
The constable has been hospitalised.
The man escaped and police are on the lookout for him.
