Eight Indian fishermen repatriated by Sri Lanka

Chennai: In the latest repatriation, eight Indian fishermen were handed over to the Coast Guard by the Sri Lankan navy at the Indo-Lankan International Maritime Boundary Line in the Palk Straits today.

Coast Guard ship ICGS Aadesh received the fishermen along with four of their boats around 8 pm tonight, an official release said.

The fishermen are being taken to Tuticorin where they will be handed over to the local authorities early tomorrow, it said.

Since January this year, Indian Coast Guard had repatriated 317 Indian fishermen with 45 of their boats and 212 Lankan fishermen with 28 of their boats.
