Coimbatore: Election Commission has developed a software for monitoring poll campaign carried out through social networking portals by various political parties, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhani said on Tuesday.
The software, now on trial, would become operational during the coming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu once the schedule for it was announced, he told reporters in Coimbatore.
Mr Lakhani, who was here to discuss about the preparedness for the Assembly elections with the collectors and senior police and other officials of eight districts in the western region, said the electoral roll would be released on January 20.
The voters can get all information, including their booth numbers, by sending an SMS to telephone number 1950, he said.
The state is expected to go to the assembly polls by coming April.
