Coimbatore: A 20-year old man, said to be a hardcore fan of Tamil actor Vijay, allegedly committed suicide in Coimbatore today 'dejected' over not being able to watch the latter's new film "Thalaivaa", whose release has been put off in Tamil Nadu, police said.
Vishnu, a construction worker residing at Thudiyalur on city outskirts, was stated to be upset over the non-release of the film yesterday and had gone to Velanthavalam in neighbouring Kerala, about 30 km from Coimbatore, to watch it.
However, he did not get a ticket and returned home late last night dejected, police said.
He ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room in his house in the wee hours, they said.
The film has not been released in the state after some theatre owners received threats from an outfit opposed to the producers.
