Farmers clash over land, seven injured

Haveri: Seven farmers were injured in a clash between two groups over land in Ghalpuji village, some 30 km from Haveri on Sunday, police said.

While one group claimed they owned the land, the rivals alleged that they had encroached government land, police said.

The injured have been admitted to hospital.

Haveri SP Chetan Singh Rathore and other senior police officials visited the village and brought the situation under control, police said.

However, prohibitory orders have been clamped in the village to maintain law and order, police said.

Farmers belonging to both the groups have lodged complaint and police are investigating, sources said.
