Fire breaks out in matchbox factory in Tamil Nadu, four killed
Tuticorin: Four women were charred to death in a fire accident at a matchbox factory in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district.

According to fire and rescue authorities, the accident occurred when the women workers of the Thilakarathinam Match Works factory in Kovilpatti were loading matchstick bundles into a container used for storage outside the match unit. The women got trapped inside the container.

It took an hour for the fire-fighting team to extinguish the fire. Around three hundred workers were present in the factory

Officials say the factory is a licensed unit and they suspect friction during shifting of bundles could have led to the fire. The incident is being investigated.
