Five choke to death on generator fumes

Gulbarga: Five persons, including a gram panchayat member, died of asphyxiation on Tuesday while desilting a 40 foot well in Ferozabad village, about 20 km away from Gulbarga, police said.

All of them died after inhaling the thick smoke emitted by a diesel generator used to pump water while desilting the well, they said.

Usman Amir Patel, Ferozabad Gram Panchayat member who went into the well after noticing the smoke, also fell a victim.

Two persons were rushed to the Government Hospital and three to a private hospital, where they breathed their last, police said.
