Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh:
Five labourers, sleeping on a footpath in Vijayawada, were mowed down by a private bus, early on Tuesday morning after the driver lost control over the vehicle, police said.
The incident took place at Benz Circle on Ring Road around 1 am when the driver applied sudden breaks to save a motorcyclist coming from the wrong direction and lost control, running over the victims, Machavaram Police Station Inspector, V Satyanandam told PTI.
The bodies of the deceased, who have not been identified yet, have been shifted to the government hospital.
Also, 14 bus passengers injured in the mishap have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
The bus driver has been arrested.
