If you're flying to or from Chennai today, best to double-check your flight's timings.
The runway at the airport is closed from 1 to 7 pm for renovation.
Airport officials say airlines were informed well in advance and that all flights have been rescheduled. They also insist they do not expect a backlog to create delays when the runway re-opens in the evening.
As a result of the runway being off-limits in the afternoon, Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee flew into the city at 4 pm at the Tambaram Air Force Station on the outskirts of Chennai. Mr Mukherjee met the DMK leadership to cement its support in his election. The party has already indicated it will vote for him. (Read more)
