Kochi: An Iranian national has been arrested in Kochi for allegedly possessing fake currency notes, police said.
Abdul Al Najadi, working with a Kuwait-based software company, was taken into custody from a hotel here on June 27 after he paid for a hotel service with counterfeit notes.
Police were alerted by hotel personnel after they became suspicious of the notes given by Najadi who had come here to supervise the operations of the company's unit at the Cherthala Infopark.
A search of his room yielded more fake notes. Najadi's personal computer and travel documents were also seized, police said.
Najadi, who had come to Kerala twice earlier, was produced before a court here which remanded him in 14 days judicial custody.
