Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, former DMDK leader Panruti S Ramachandran today joined the ruling AIADMK in the presence of party General Secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Mr Ramachandran was the DMDK presidium chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly quit that party and his assembly membership.
While resigning from DMDK, the veteran leader had announced that he would retire from active politics.
A seasoned politician, he had served in the late MG Ramachandran ministry during the 1980's.
