Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu:
Four members of a family returning from a pilgrimage to Tirupati shrine in a car, were killed in a road accident in the wee hours today in Tamil Nadu, police said.
The mishap occurred when the driver, one of the victims, lost control of the vehicle when he tried to swerve it to avoid a lorry coming from the opposite direction, and rammed the car into a roadside wall near Tirutani in the district in Tamil Nadu.
The car crashed into the wall, killing one Ramesh, a silk merchant from Kancheepuram, his wife and two brothers-in-law on the spot, they said, adding that three women were also injured.
The injured have been admitted to Ramachandra Hospital at Porur on the outskirts of Chennai, and conditions of two of them was stated to be serious, they said.
