For this 11-year-old girl, what began as a ride on the Mettupalayam-Coonoor heritage train in Tamil Nadu ended up as an accident today when a boulder came off a mountain, crashed through the roof of the coach and injured her.
The girl suffered injuries on her hand. She was travelling with her parents to the hill station of Ooty.
None of the other 125 passengers in the train was injured. But the crater-like hole on the roof of the train indicated how grave the accident could have been.
Railway officials said the train resumed service after its roof was temporarily fixed. A proper maintenance would be done when it reaches Mettupalayam.
