Gold ornaments, cash stolen from couple in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Four masked men decamped with Rs 1 lakh and gold ornaments weighing 30 sovereigns after robbing a couple in their house at Keeranatham, about 40 kilometres from Coimbatore, in the wee hours today.

Police said the robbers gained entry into the house from the main door and tied the couple in the front room and took away the valuables from an almirah.

Two of the masked robbers were speaking in some North Indian language, the police said.

Four days ago, about 33 sovereigns of gold were robbed from a woman at knife point, when she was alone in her house at nearby Tirupur.
