Govt announces sops to attract electronic hardware industry

Hyderabad: In a bid to woo investors, the state government has proposed granting the electronic hardware industry 100 per cent reimbursement of stamp duty, transfer duty and registration fee paid on sale or lease deeds, mortgages and hypothecation on first transaction.

A draft paper on Andhra Pradesh Electronics Hardware Policy 2012-17, released by Department of Informational Technology and Communications, says power subsidy up to 50 per cent to micro, 40 per cent to small, 25 per cent to medium and 10 per cent to large scale industries will be given for a period of 5 years from the date of commencement of commercial operations.

However, the power subsidy is limited to Rs 30, 00, 000. The state government will set up a nodal agency to deal with customs and excise and other state and central agencies.
The state government will also set up a new electronic hardware park with an area of 150 acres with an option of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and non-SEZ zones.

The draft paper says that the state has achieved production to the tune of Rs 6500 crore of electronic items and has made exports to the tune of Rs 650 crore during 2009-10.

As per the policy, the state is mulling over to create multi-product electronic SEZ clusters on 300 acres of land on the south, north, east and west nodes of the Outer Ring Road of the city whereas another 200 acres of land will be allotted for setting up ancillary electronic industry.

The government will also convert the existing clusters such as FAB city and Aeronautical SEZ into 'Centres of Excellence', giving a fresh impetus to the infrastructure, according to the draft policy.
