Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Monday dismissed the habeas corpus petition questioning the "illegal" detention of 11 terror suspects by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police last month and praying for a direction for producing them before the court.
When the petition filed by parents of terror suspects came up for hearing before the division bench headed by Justice Dilip B Bhosale, Special Public Prosecutor H S Chandramouli submitted that the arrested had already been produced before a local court and remanded to police custody.
The petition then was accordingly dismissed.
The parents of the terror suspects had on August 29 sent a telegram to the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, the Director General of Police and City Commissioner of Police that their sons had been "illegally" detained by police "without any proper warrant or any prior information and without following the procedure as per law" and demanded legal action against the CCB police and that their sons be released.
This was subsequently registered as a habeas corpus petition.
The CCB police arrested 11terror suspects from Hubli and in the City on August 29.
