Hearing in Kanchi seer Sankararaman murder case adjourned to August 12

Puducherry: A local court in Puducherry today warned that it would issue arrest warrants if all the 23 accused, including two seers of the Kanchi Mutt, in the Sankararaman murder case failed to appear before it for the next hearing on August 12.

When the case came up for hearing before Principal District and Session Judge CS Murugan, only five of the 23 accused in the case were present in the court.

Taking a serious view of absence of Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi and 16 other accused, the Judge said all the 23 accused should be present at the next hearing, failing which warrants would be issued against them.

He then adjourned the case to August 12.

The two sankaracharays are the prime accused in the murder of Sankararaman, the manager in Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kancheepuram, on September 3, 2004.
