Hectic schedule for Prince Charles, wife in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: It is going to be a tight schedule for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall when they are in Kerala as part of their India visit.

The royal couple will make a nine-day trip to the country starting Nov 6 and concluding in Kerala on Nov 14.

Their Kerala leg starts on Nov 11 with their arrival in Kochi, according to the schedule provided by the British High Commission in New Delhi on Friday.

They will visit the Kerala Folklore Museum and Theatre in Kochi Nov 11 and will watch a demonstration of traditional dance forms of the state.

They will next join urban planners and city dignitaries to view the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) marking the participation of Kochi in the Future Cities project.

The day will end with the royal couple attending a reception for civic and business leaders hosted by Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar.

The next day they will visit the Vazhachal Forest Range and will view first hand an elephant corridor and see the measures being taken for elephant conservation.

They will also discuss animal and forest conservation besides meeting members of the local community and WWF outreach workers.

K.S.Sudha, regional deputy director of the information and public relations department of the state government told IANS that so far they have not been told about the programme for Nov 13.

"We expect to know about it in the coming days and about other details of their stay," said Sudha.

The royal couple will visit the Jewish Synagogue in Kochi Nov 14 to meet members of the community and receive a traditional Jewish prayer of blessing.
