Kochi:
Kerala High court on Thursday directed authorities to provide police protection for transportation, installation and commencement of the waste treatment plant at Vilapilsala in Thiruvanthapuram by August 3.
A Division Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A M Shafiq, issued the order on a petition by Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
Following violent protests from people living in nearby areas, the corporation had been unable to set up the plant at Vilapilsala.
Though court had sent the dispute for mediation, no solution could be arrived at and the case was again presented before the court.
