Sivaganga : For the first time, the Indo-Tibetan Border Force Band will perform during the Meenakshi Amman temple Chithirai festival in Sivaganga from April 27.
According to ITBT Training Centre Director Rajesh Kumar Bataria, the ITBT Band was formed in 1977, and they had been displaying their music skills during the Republic Day Parade.
For the first time they would take part in the Chithirai festival (April/May) which attracts lakhs of people from all over Tamil Nadu, he said, adding that the band would perform from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM from April 27 to May 3.
The two-week long Chithirai Festival is one of the biggest celebrations in Madurai. It re-enacts the wedding of Lord Sundareswarar (Lord Shiva) and Goddess Meenakshi (Lord Vishnu's sister).
