Injured government officer 'very critical' say doctors

Bangalore: The condition of a government officer, a victim of an alleged attack and said to be a whistleblower in some controversial land allotments by societies, was today 'very critical', hospital sources said.

S P Mahantesh, 48, who is undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital for the past four days after he was allegedly attacked by some unidentified miscreants, "is in a very critical condition and has been put on ventilator", doctors attending him told PTI on condition of anonymity.

Mahantesh, returning home in his car, was found unconscious near a hotel on May 15 before he was shifted to hospital after a passerby noticed him and informed his family. He had suffered head injuries.

The officer had reported irregularities in different societies involving some officials and political figures.

The city police has no leads in the story so far.
