Thrissur: A Special court on Tuesday directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to probe the alleged grant of about 50 acres of land by the Calicut University to the trusts and associations headed by the top brass of Indian Union Musslim League (IUML), a major partner in the ruling United Democratic Front in Kerala.

The Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance), V Bhaskaran gave the direction while considering a petition filed by PD Joseph, a human rights activist, pleading for a probe to be ordered into the alleged land transfer. The case is due for hearing on May 5.
