Chennai:
The Tamil Nadu police is finally interrogating hotelier
Vikram Aggarwal in connection with betting allegation in the Indian Premier League. He appeared before the CID crime branch at 10 am this morning.
Tamil Nadu Police claim Vikram Aggarwal has links with several bookies arrested in Chennai. Mumbai police had earlier alleged that it was Mr Aggarwal who had introduced actor Vindoo Dara Singh to Gurunath Meiyyapan, the face of Chennai Super Kings and son-in-law of BCCI President Mr N Srinivasan. Sources close to Vikram have denied the allegations.
Though Tamil Nadu police had summoned him first, Mr Aggarwal chose to appear before Mumbai police last week, who did not arrest him.
Vikram Aggarwal owns two hotels in Chennai. Police allege a few bookies had used his hotel room to bet during IPL matches. Mr Narendar Pal Singh ADGP, CBCID told NDTV, "We want to first make sure whether Vikram was a Punter or if bookies were using his money. Based on the information we get, a few others also may be summoned for interrogation."
A few days ago, Police had conducted searches at Mr Aggarwal's properties in Tamil Nadu including Chennai. After appearing before Mumbai Police, Vikram Aggarwal had sought a week's time to appear before the Crime Branch CID in Chennai citing health reasons.
