Noted Islamic scholar Kanthapuram AP Abubacker Musliar on Sunday urged the Centre to take effective steps to remove from internet the controversial American movie deemed offensive to Islam.
"Those who protest against the film should refrain from violence or any action that would mar social harmony and peace," Mr Musliar, General Secretary of Islamic scholars' forum All-India Jammiathul Ulema, told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr Musliar, who leads several Sunni Muslim religious and cultural outfits, said that Islam has always taken utmost care that sentiments of those following other religious traditions were not hurt.
