With the High Court not granting blanket permission to conduct the famous bull-taming festival
Jallikattu, the events were conducted in 18 villages since February by organisers after filing separate writ petitions, the Government said.
The Madurai bench of Madras High Court had, on January 30 2012, said that the organisers of individual events would have to obtain permission to conduct the events by filing seperate writ petitions, Animal Husbandry Minister TKM Chinnaiah informed the state Assembly.

Jallikattu was conducted in 18 villages in Dindigul, Theni, Sivagangai, Madurai, Vellore and Virudhunagar districts as per the court orders from February 10, 2012 till date, he said.
