Jamiat Ulama-e Andhra Pradesh has planned to get itself impleaded in the case relating to Manikonda Jagir Wakf properties pending before the Supreme Court, President of the organisation Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed said in Hyderabad on Friday.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had recently declared the 100 acres of land situated at Manikonda Jagir as Wakf property and the Supreme Court has granted stay against the high court orders, he said in a statement.
On the basis of the Supreme Court stay, the company Lanco Infratech has resumed development on a 50-billion-rupee township project in Hyderabad and is planning to develop and sell homes on the land, Moulana said.
If the development and sale continues, then it will set a "wrong precedent", he added.
Claiming the status of Wakf land can never be changed, he said that in view of this the organisation has started consultation with noted lawyers of the Supreme Court.
