Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday strongly condemned the twin bomb blasts on a train and expressed her grief at the death of one young woman and several others who were injured.
In a statement issued in Chennai, Jayalalithaa said she was grieved on hearing about the incident which took place on the Bangalore-Guwahati train stationed at Chennai Central Station.
"I have ordered the police to investigate the crime along with the railway police, bring the culprits before the law, and punish them," Jayalalithaa said.
She also announced a solatium of Rs 1,00,000 to the family of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to those who suffered serious injuries and Rs 25,000 to other injured people.
She urged the people to not panic as the police was taking sufficient security measures.
Barely 10 minutes after the train entered the station, two low intensity bombs went off in S4 and S5 coaches, killing 22-year-old Swathi and injuring many others.
