Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa yesterday issued orders to release water from Vaigai dam benefitting the Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai districts.
"I have issued orders to release water from the Vaigai dam from September 25, for irrigation of 45,041 acre lands in Periyar and 85,563 acre in Thirumangalam regions accepting the request made the members of the farming community," she said in an official release in Chennai.
In view of this, 1,50,043 acre land in Madurai,Dindigul and Sivagangai districts will be benefitted, she said.
