Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today slammed the revision of petrol price by Rs 1.63 and said this would further burden the people suffering from the recent hike of the fuel price.
She slammed the oil marketing companies saying that while they import crude and refine it to be sold as petrol, "it is unfair that they increase the price of petrol in domestic market citing global trends".
"Further, with Iran selling oil for Indian rupee, raising the price citing Indian rupee depreciation against the US dollar amounts to fooling the people," she said in a statement.
"Therefore, considering the welfare of the people and the nation, I request rollback of today's hike besides cancelling deregulation of oil prices," she said.
