Bangalore: A journalist in Bangalore has been arrested for suspected links with the Indian Mujahideen. The police are being tight lipped about the arrest, but sources say the journalist worked with an English daily.
This arrest comes even as four suspected Indian Mujahideen activists involved in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blast case were picked up from Hubli for questioning, police said.
Two low-intensity explosions near a packed Chinnaswamy cricket stadium less than an hour before an IPL match left 15 people, including five security men injured in 2010.
Police sources the five arrests came after a tip off from the Uttar Pradesh police team which was in Bangalore yesterday.
They say the four men arrested from Hubli used the highly populated area of the city in Northern Karnataka as hideout to conduct recces for their operations. The police for now are still investigating the role each of them played in the blast.
Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Director General of Police Lalrokhuma Pachau said backgrounds of those picked up was being checked.
"Their backgrounds are being checked. After we come to some stage, we will tell you", he said, adding investigation is on.
Sources also add that there could be more arrests in the Chinnaswamy stadium blast case, possibly from Bengal, again based on a tip off of the UP police.
