The Karnataka government on Tuesday decided to hold a special function in the Assembly Hall on June 18 to mark the 60th year of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
The first session of the Lower House was held from June 18 to 30, 1952.
A meeting chaired by Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda today decided to hold the diamond jubilee celebrations programme in a befitting manner.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar and Speaker KG Bopaiah, who attended the meeting, told reporters that former Chief Ministers, former speakers, sitting MLAs, MLCs, MPs and Union Ministers from Karnataka would be invited to the programme.
Governor HR Bhardwaj would preside over the function, where former Chief Justice of India MN Venkatachaliah would deliver the key note address. Speeches delivered to members of the Lower House by former presidents APJ Abdul Kalam and S Radhakrishnan would be played on the day.
Three members of the first Legislative Assembly - UM Madappa, Mulka Govinda Reddy and TG Thimme Gowda - would be felicitated on the occasion.
