Karnataka Chief Minister visits drought-hit areas

Kolar: Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda asserted on Saturday that his government has released sufficient funds to tackle the drought situation in the state, rejecting opposition charge of non-release of funds.

"There is no shortage of funds for drought relief works. The government has accorded top priority for providing drinking water", he told reporters after visiting some of the scarcity hit villages in Kolar district.

He directed officials to sink borewells and ensure power connection to them.

Mr Gowda said the issue of writing off farmers loans will be considered after discussions with the Centre.
