Bangalore:
The Karnataka High Court on Thursday constituted a nine-member panel to monitor government programmes engaged in tackling malnutrition in the state.
The panel, headed by Justice N K Patil, a sitting judge, includes Director Health and Family Welfare, Joint Director ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), Chairperson Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR), Neena P Nayak, and advocate Clifton Rozario.
Hearing a PIL on child malnutrition in the state, a division bench, headed by Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen, said the panel can invite experts as and when necessary and requested it to hold its meeting within a fortnight.
The court adjourned the case to Jun 15, 2012 and directed the panel to submit its report three days prior to the hearing.
During the earlier hearing, the court had criticised the state government for not doing anything on child malnutrition, which resulted in a number of deaths across the state last year.
