Bangalore: A top official of Karnataka's child development department has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman, who runs a school for children with special needs, police said.
The 38-year-old woman, who runs the school in Mahalaxmipuram Batavadi area, had alleged in her police complaint that the state child development department's Deputy Director Radhakrishna, had raped her at a hotel on April 12, when she gone to meet him for release of medical grant to her institution, Inspector Kenche Gowda said.
The woman reportedly said that she did not file a complaint with the police earlier due to fear that the aid to her school would be stopped.
The alleged victim is a widow and has been running the school for the past two years, police said.
