Kochi:
Kerala Information Commissioner K Natarajan, who was suspended for allegedly interfering in a land assignment case involving former chief minister VS Achuthanandan, today moved the High Court challenging the action against him.
He filed a petition challenging Governor HR Bhardwaj's November 12 order suspending him, contending that it was "illegal".
The petition is likely to come up before the court on Wednesday.
The Governor had suspended Mr Natarajan, a former DIG of Police, on the basis of the recommendation by the state government following a police probe which came across evidence to corroborate the charge that the Information Commissioner had urged a police official investigating the case to spare Achutanandan.
The case against Achuthanandan, ordered by the present UDF Government, pertains to alleged violation of norms while allotting land to TK Soman, an ex-serviceman and his close relative, in Kasaragod district when he was Chief Minister heading the previous LDF Ministry.
