Muhammed Nisham was allegedly furious that the guard at his gated community in Thrissur took too long to let his car into the neighbourhood. He allegedly ran his Hummer into the man to pin him against a wall, then emerged from the car and beat his victim repeatedly with an iron rod till others intervened.
The guard, identified by the police as Chandrabose, is now on life support in a local hospital.
Mr Nisham owns a massive beedi and tobacco company.
In 2013, Mr Nisham ran into trouble with the police for allowing his 9-year-old son to drive his Ferrari in their neighbourhood. The video was uploaded on YouTube, and generated much outrage.
