Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has launched a campaign to households in the state on the need to control power consumption.
All domestic category consumers would be issued notices warning them that uncontrolled power consumption would result in additional surcharge from next year, KSEB sources said.
An order to this effect was issued on Wednesday and the notices would be circulated to consumers with the bi-monthly electricity bills. The surcharge would be collected from next year as per the state electricity regulatory commission's order.
The notices would also include tips to reduce usage and conserve energy. KSEB has around 85 lakh consumers in the domestic category of its 1.03 crore consumers. The Board had also suggested 25 per cent restrictions on industrial consumers.
