Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government's ambitious "zero landless project" aimed at providing land to all landless people by 2015, will be inaugurated by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Thiruvananthapuram on September 30.
The government has identified one lakh plots to be distributed to the beneficiaries in the first phase of the programme, an official release said.
Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash said the landless in six districts including the capital city would be provided land in the first phase.
A total of 77,319 plots had been earmarked in 14 districts of the state for allotment. Around 2.4 lakh beneficiaries were selected in the first phase of the project. The minister said the remaining plots would be earmarked at the earliest.
