Kerala High Court raps Chandy government for 'incompetence'
Kochi: In scathing remarks against the UDFGovernment, Kerala High Court on Wednesday observed that persons implicated in criminal cases, managing to get accommodated in Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's office, showed the government's 'incompetence'.

"How can you say you did not know? How can you shirk responsibility?" Justice Harun Al Rashid orally asked the government counsel when the land grabbing case against Salim Raj, former gunman of Mr Chandy, came up before the court.

Stating that probity in public life was deteriorating, the judge said there have been occasions when Ministers used to demit office taking moral responsibility. However, probity in public life was deteriorating now, the judge held.

When the government counsel tried to defend saying the allegation in the case was media hype, court referred to a police case against a former personal assistant of Mr Chandy who had to resign in the wake of Solar panel scam which had rocked the state last year.

Court also referred to an incident in Kozhikode wherein an abduction attempt was made against a woman by a group of persons allegedly led by Salim Raj.

Three personal staff of the Chief Minister had to resign in the wake of allegations against them in connection with the Solar panel scam.
