Kerala, Karnataka squabble over usage of 'KSRTC' label

Thiruvananthapuram: A legal dispute is on the cards between Kerala and Karnataka over use of the monogram 'KSRTC' in respect of state transport corporations run by the two governments.

The issue came into focus after the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation wrote to its Kerala counterpart last week, requesting them not to use the monogram 'KSRTC', holding that they had got it registered with the Trade Mark registry.

"We received a communication in this regard from Karnataka and as per  rules, we will file an objection at the TMR," Kerala State Road Transport Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Antony Chacko told PTI here today.

He claimed that Kerala has been operating the service since 1953 with the KSRTC monogram, and that Karnataka had got it registered last year.

"We will file our objection and there will be a hearing on the matter," he said.
