Kiran Kumar Reddy urges Centre to help workers stranded in Angola

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has requested the Centre to take steps for the protection of people belonging to Andhra Pradesh in Angola in West Africa.

Reddy wrote a letter in this regard to External Affairs Minister S M Krishna.

He also directed state Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi to continuously keep in touch with officials of the Ministry in this regard, a press release from the Chief Ministre's Office said.

Yesterday, CPI General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy had urged the Centre to enquire about Indian workers in Angola, who were allegedly fired at when they demanded payment of salaries, and provide help to them.

One third of the workers are from Andhra Pradesh, while others belong to different states, he said.
