Kochi: Three workers were injured due to an explosion in an unused oil pipeline of Kochi Refinery Ltd.
The explosion on Tuesday night was suspected to have been caused by sparks from a cracker that fell on the pipeline at Kadvanthara when the workers were conducting a test to ascertain its condition, KRL sources said on Wednesday.
They said a three-member team had been set up to probe the incident.
The condition of one of the workers, Subramaniam, (50) admitted to the Kottayam Medical College hospital, was stated to be serious, hospital sources said.
All the workers hail from Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.
