Kozhikode:
Two air passengers were taken into custody at the airport in Kozhikode for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold worth about Rs 90 lakh from different Gulf nations.
Air Customs Intelligence seized 1.5 kg of gold valued at Rs 45 lakh from Abdul Rashid of Thamarassery in the district on his arrival from Dubai, officials sources said.
Rashid had hidden the gold in the handle of his trolley bag, they said.
In the second seizure, DRI officials recovered another 1.5 kg of gold valued at Rs 45 lakh from Abdul Rahman of neighbouring Kannur district when they checked his baggage after he arrived from Riyadh.
Rahman had hidden the gold in his suitcase, they said.
