Udhagamandalam: Panic gripped Kanthal area in Udhagamandalam after a leopard entered the human habitat and killed 26 goats in the cattle shed of a farmer in the early hours of today.
The farmer got up hearing the bleat of goats and found a leopard eating a goat in the shed in the backyard of his house.
Some neighbours also rushed out hearing the noise, but remained mute spectators as the leopard was devouring the goats, police said.
However, after some time the leopard went back into the forest area. The farmer found 26 goats killed by the leopard, out of which three were devoured by it, they said.
