Locals to resume agitation against nuclear plant in Andhra Pradesh

Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: Following the nod for a nuclear plant at Kovvada in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, members of fishermen community and locals from Ranasthalam, Pusapatirega, Bhogapuram Mandals on Monday decided to intensify their agitation.

It was decided at a meeting that to oppose the plant, dharnas would be held in front of Collectorate, and National Highway No 5 would be blockaded, the activists said in Srikakulam.

The government is setting six light weight nuclear reactors, each of 1,000 MW capacity in the district.
