Lok Satta Party announces two more candidates for assembly by-polls

Hyderabad: The Lok Satta Party on Tuesday announced that Siddaiah Naidu, a former defence employee, will contest the by-election to the Assembly from Tirupati and Kondeti Kondaiah from Anantapur.

The names were announced by Lok Satta leader K Srinivas Rao and others. The party, headed by bureaucrat-turned-politician Jayaprakash Narayan, had announced candidates for four seats earlier.

The by-polls will be held for 18 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. Though the notification has not been issued for the by-elections, parties have begun preparations in right earnest.

The by-polls for 16 seats have become necessary due to the disqualification of sitting Congress MLAs who switched loyalty to Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and voted against the Congress Government during a floor test in December, while a sitting member quit in support of Jagan in another seat.

Besides, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi quit as MLA from Tirupati following his election to Rajya Sabha.
