Madurai:
Regional Transport Officials in Madurai on Thursday seized three school vehicles which were carrying more students than what was permitted under the licence condition.
Official sources said one vehicle was carrying 52 children against the permitted capacity of 18 children. Two other vehicles were also found cramped with children.
The authorities also called the school principals for talks and warned that schools would be fully responsible for any slack in the maintenance of the buses.
The action had been initiated following the death of a student involving a school bus.
