Mandali Buddha Prasad Elected as Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly

Hyderabad: Senior legislator Mandali Buddha Prasad has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao announced Mr Mandali's election in the House today.

Mr Mandali, who inherited his late father Venkata Krishna Rao's political legacy, has been elected to the Assembly for the third time from Avanigadda constituency in Krishna district. He had also served as a minister in the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government.

Mr Mandali joined the Telugu Desam Party on the eve of the recent elections, protesting the Congress' decision to bifurcate the state.

He had also served as Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission.
