Hariprasad was arrested in connection with the abduction and gangrape of a 22-year old medical student from Kerala a week ago. Along with him, his two accomplices Yogesh Shantappa Poojary and Anand were also arrested.
IGP (Western Range) Pratap Reddy said, Yogesh and Anand were still in a hospital undergoing treatment after their alleged failed suicide attempt.
The girl was kidnapped from the Manipal University at night in an autorikshaw and gangraped by three men on June 20. The victim is recuperating in a hospital, Mr Reddy said.
