Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Government has denied reports that the state's fishermen were attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy on April 2.
"A section of the media reported that Tamil fishermen were attacked by Sri Lankan Navy on April 2. On investigation, we found that the reports were not true," Fisheries Minister KA Jayapal told the Assembly.
Such an event "did not happen" on April 2 and all the 504 fishing boats that ventured into the sea returned on April 3, Mr Jayapal said.
"However, our Chief Minister has been writing letters to the Centre on this (attacks on fishermen). She has written six letters in 10 months," Jayapal added.
